Thanks for checking back. It’s been awhile since my last update and things have been crazy. We have raced in Marin Michigan and most recently at the World Ford Challenge.

The race in Martin was postponed because of rain. It will be concluded at the Maple Grove race. Unfortunately we won’t be there. Our plans for 2005 included taking our 2005 Mustang on the Hot Rod Power tour. We made the decision to skip the Maple Grove race.
The World Ford Challenge is the largest Ford spectator event. For the Real Street class it’s not that desirable to participate. We took the opportunity to get some testing on a race prepped surface. Also it’s an opportunity to hang out and see a lot of people. I want to thank all those that stopped by. All the compliments on the car make the long hours worth the effort.
We managed to finish runner up with a hole-shot win over #2 qualifier Brian Meyer.

At this time we are work on the preparations for the Hot Rod Power Tour. We want to conserve our race parts so we will use street able pieces. Such as replacing the Motive Pro Ring and Pinion. We will share our in depth story on the changes in an article for 5.0 Mustang & Superfords Magazine.

Speaking of the magazines we have been very busy with the media on the new car. We start off in the August issue of 5.0 Mustang & Superfords Magazine with a article on the new car. In the September issue we have the honor of being on the cover. Inside a full feature and a continuation of our build up article.
We will also be on the cover of an upcoming issue of Race Pages as well as a feature article.
Sportsman Drag Racing will also honor us with a cover shot as well as a article on my racing exploits.
I am truly amazed at the response to our new ride. I could not have done it without the support of my sponsors.

I want also thanks a few people that have helped behind the scenes. Andy Burnett helped with the thrash both in Illinois and then in Florida. He made sure that I didn’t fall asleep on the way to Bradenton.
Chris and Mary have been a godsend. They have brought a level of confidence that I have never had. While I have had many help along the way Chris and Mary truly make things at the track run smoothly. Between the races Chris is a sounding board for testing and changes to our setup. Our development would not be at the point that it is without Chris and Mary. Thanks guys!

Hello everyone!

I am sorry that I have not updated the web-site. I have been busy with work as we start a new season. What little time that I do have has been devoted to working on the car.

I just completed the build stories (with help from Editor Steve Turner) for upcoming issues of 5.0 Mustang & Superfords Magazine.
The first article will be in the August issue. The build and feature will be in the September issue. Look for the August issue about the second week of June and the September issue about mid July.
We are honored to be on the cover of the September issue so it should be easy to spot on the news stand.

We just returned from the “postponed” Michigan race. As you may know that is the third stop on our race schedule. At the Bradenton Florida Race we were fortunate enough to make it to the final round with the new 2005.

Reynolds Georgia was our second race where we improved to a 9.80 best ET and lost in the Semi Final Round.

In Michigan we have made some steady improvements. Combined with the cold air we have improved to a best time of 9.67 at 140 in the last round of qualifying on Saturday. NMRA has yet to announce where and how they will conclude the remaining rounds of eliminations.

I have added some pictures to the gallery.

Thanks for checking in!

Well at last I have a few moments to update some of the current news. A lot has been happening in the past several months and I have been remiss in giving news updates.
I made the trip to Las Vegas for the SEMA Show in early November.
Just a few weeks prior I had received notification from Ford Racing.
I was approved to purchase a 2005 Mustang “body in white”.
As you know a BIW is a shell, no glass, interior, latches, headlight and tail light assemblies. They are meant to be used as the starting point for all out Race Cars. Our sources told us that a total of 48 BIW were offered for sale to racers. The demand for the 2005 Mustang BIW has been enormous.
As many of you know we announced plans to take our 1988 LX Coupe on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. I have always wanted to participate but car and commitments to race the NMRA schedule always got in the way. After hearing stories from Jim Schenk’s adventures on the Power Tour I became eager to find a way to go.
Our idea was to showcase our 5.0 Mustangs & Superfords Magazine NMRA Real Street race car by making the “long haul”. With our friend Rob Kinnan moving over to the editor’s chair at Hot Rod Magazine we knew that there would be a least one friendly face on the tour.
A weird thing changed our plans dramatically. While talking to several sponsors it became obvious that there was a huge interest in taking our 2005 Mustang on the HRPT. There was one problem however. Ford Racing BIW cars are sold “for racing purposes only”. In that they don’t have a VIN and can never be licsened or titled for street use. One of our sponsors told me “find a way”.
Previously I had talked to several people about how to obtain all the small parts that we would need to complete the car. It became apparent that it was going to be expensive and difficult to obtain all the parts that we would need. Ford Racing, Total Performance and friend Lisa Reffet from GM Performance suggested that we purchase a stripped V6 2005 Mustang. That would give us the pieces that we needed that are not included with the BIW.
After the positive response that we received to our 2005 Mustang Power Tour proposal it we decided to purchase a new 2005 Mustang and use it for the basis of our new race car.
As you know it’s not easy to find a 2005 Mustang much less a dealer that will sell it a reasonable price. In Real Street we have the good fortune of the connection that we needed. Nitrous Racer Bruce Hemminger is the New Car Sales Manager at Van Drunen Ford in Homewood Illinois. After talking with Bruce about our plans he went to work. He had a Silver Premium car that was due in early November. Bruce arranged to dealer trade the silver car for a Vibrant Red Deluxe car. The only options on the car was a power seat and automatic transmission. The car arrived 3 weeks late and we picked it up just before the PRI Show in December.
I spent most of December taking the car apart and stripping it prior to the trip to Racecraft.
Racecraft now located in LaSalle Illinois is responsible for cutting edge Pro 5.0 Race cars. As well as race cars they fabricate Tubular K Members, Dropped Spindles for 79 through 2005 Mustangs, Control Arms, and rear wings just to name a few. You can see some of their efforts on their website at www.racecarft.com .
I dropped the car off at Racecraft on New Years day. Our schedule is to pick the car up on January 29th barring any unforeseen problems.
Racecraft has completed the Moly Rollcage at this time. They have retrofitted a Clutch Pedal Assembly and Manual Throttle cable into the place where the “fly by wire” system used to be. The seats are mounted as well as the fuel cell, MSD Coil, Data Logger, and Areomotive Fuel Pump. Mark will have completed the Tubular K Member by Tuesday and will have the rear Axle Mounted about the same time.
We have made the switch to the 9” Rear Axle at the Recommendation of Motive Gear. The technology has changed to the point that they feel that the losses will be negligible compared to the 8.8” rear axle that we have used previously. It will also allow us to use a “pro” gear that is not available for the 8.8” Rear axle. We feel as though the reduction of flex will far out weigh the benefits that we had with the 8.8” Rear Axle.

Here is a list of Sponsors and Supporters for 2005. We could not and would not be able to do what we do without the continued support of these people.
